The Communication Department of the University of Green Bay will be celebrating it’s 2nd Annual Communication Week also known as Comm Week in February. Comm Week celebrates the past, present, and future of UW-Green Bay’s Communication Department. This week long celebration allows current Comm students to gain experience to speak and interact with alumni and professionals in their career field. Professor Clampitt, Communication Chair, envisioned the idea of Comm Week to re-connect past alumni and current Comm Students through insight and participation.

A new event, specifically Mass Media orientated, will be held this year. The event is called the ‘Comm Film Festival’. A competition for aspiring film makers. I’m so excited and already working on the script and building a small team for my Comm Project.

Last month, I officially got my first professional demo reel and received a copy of my first PSA or Public Service Announcement.

In the summer of 2016, I emailed a friend who owned a local recording studio and I sent him a unprofessional made demo. He saw potential in me and then offered me a small paid PSA gig. I, of course, said yes.

To set foot in the recording booth sent chills up my back and I remembered that my heart was beating fast. My face was probably flushed. Boy, was I nervous, but also excited. Ever since that day, I still remember all the feelings I felt and I will forever cherish them. With those feelings, will motive me to do my best.

Recently, I learned that UWGB has a Phoenix Studio Podcast and they needed a student to voice over a small segment for their podcast. I, of course, was all up for it. You can hear the Podcast segment under Professional Voice Demo and please feel free to listen along to the other voice work pieces.
